Forney Ridge Trail
Forney Ridge Trail starts at the Clingmans Dome parking lot and descends Forney Ridge to its junction with Springhouse Branch Trail. The most popular section of this 5.8 mile trail is the 1.8 miles to Andrews Bald where you will have gorgeous views of the North Carolina side of the Great Smoky Mountains. The bald features flame azalea and catawba rhododendron blooms in late June. Clingmans Dome is accessed from Hwy 441 (between Gatlinburg, TN and Cherokee, NC) and is located in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The Appalachian Trail trailhead is 0.6 mile from the Forney Creek Trail trailhead.
